Privacy Policy
The short version: your audio stays on your phone. YapTrap records only short sound moments detected during your night, stores them on your device, and never uploads your recordings anywhere — except brief speech segments sent transiently for transcription, which are never stored on our servers.

What the app records
When you start Night Mode, YapTrap listens through your microphone and savesonly short audio segments when sound events (speech, snoring, noises) are detected. The app does not record or store your full night. All recordings, transcripts and reports are stored locally on your device. We have no account system and no server database of user content.
Transcription
To turn detected speech into text, short audio segments are sent over an encrypted connection to our transcription relay and processed by a speech-to-text provider (OpenAI Whisper API). Segments are processed transiently and are not stored by us. We log only technical metadata (an anonymous device token, timestamps, segment duration, request status) to prevent abuse. If you never unlock or use transcription, no audio leaves your device.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or health records. We cannot listen to your recordings. Deleting the app (or using “Delete all nights” in Settings) permanently removes your data from your device.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; this involves an anonymous app user identifier and purchase receipt data — never your payment details, which we never see.
Analytics
We collect anonymous usage events (e.g., app opened, night completed, subscription started) through analytics providers to understand how the app performs. These events are not linked to your identity and contain no audio or transcript content.
Your rights (GDPR)
Because your content lives on your device, you control it directly. For any privacy request regarding the limited technical data described above (access, deletion, objection), contacthello@getyaptrap.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in France: CNIL).
Children
YapTrap is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app inappropriately, contact us.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date.
